About Us
Foster the Earth is a 501c3 and 1% for the Planet nonprofit partner that provides hiking and backpacking experiences to individuals with limited access to the outdoors. Our San Diego Chapter is dedicated to helping underserved youth in the foster care system connect with nature. Our program provides educational wilderness immersion in which participants build skills and self-confidence, imparts a sense of wonder and awe, and inspires these underserved youth to become advocates to protect our world’s wild places.
Our MissionFoster the Earth is dedicated to removing barriers so that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. Our goal is to help individuals reconnect with their curiosity and the natural world through meaningful exposure to nature. We believe our participants can reach great heights through their determination, perseverance, and resilience. Through our program, they gain a deeper respect for themselves and for the environment, along with valuable skills they can carry throughout their lives.
